Fr. Brendan Lane was the second of the six children of Cath and Jim Lane. He was educated by the Mercy Sisters at Ivanhoe and by the Jesuits at St. Patrick’s College East Melbourne. After that he studied Science and Education at Melbourne University, then taught at Murtoa High School in the Wimmera, before attending St. Paul’s Late Vocation Seminary in Sydney. He was ordained in 1973 By Archbishop Knox. He had appointments at Fitzroy, Bulleen, Glenhuntly and Cheltenham, before being released by Archbishop Little to work as a chaplain and teacher in a large boarding school in the North of Zambia , East Africa. Returning to Australia after nearly four years there, he was appointed to Sunshine parish and eventually became parish priest. After over eleven years in Sunshine, he moved to Hampton Park and then on to Mill Park parish where he was when asked to become Rector of Corpus Christi College.
