Mission in the City that Never Sleeps

By Dcn. Rhys Lowther

On Wednesday 26 August, we were delighted to welcome Fr Boniface Endorf O.P. to our community meal.

Fr Boniface shared incredible stories about the transformation of his parish in New York. When he arrived at the parish he asked himself, “what is a parish for?“ His answer was simple, “a parish exists to make saints.” With this goal in mind, he set out to make confession available daily, foster reverence in the Mass and provide opportunities for fellowship.

It was not all smooth sailing and Fr Boniface was willing to share some of the challenges he faced and how God’s grace worked through it all.

He believes prayer sustains the apostolate of the parish. He made a 24/7 adoration chapel because, in his words, “The city that never sleeps needs a chapel that never closes.“

Fr Boniface left us encouraged and enthusiastic about the mission that lies ahead!
