Dear friends,

Welcome to the website of Corpus Christi College, the Provincial Seminary for Victoria and Tasmania. We hope you find it an informative and useful introduction to the life of our community, especially if you are considering a vocation to the priesthood.

I am very grateful to the seminarians who have taken up the responsibility of preparing this window into the life of the seminary. I know it has the potential to reach many people.

While in fact, the seminarians are often out and about in parishes, schools, hospitals and the welfare agencies of the Church, many people do not know much about seminary life and have never met a seminarian. Our website is a good place to start learning something about the seminary’s programme of formation, it’s history, present day life and the activities and stories of the students.

Although itself set within the Body of Christ, Corpus Christi College humbly bears a unique task within that Body, to begin the work of forming disciples to be priestly servants and leaders. In particular, this website will give you an insight into the four dimensions of formation – human, spiritual, pastoral and intellectual – that are the daily focus of seminary life and which students are invited to integrate into their lives as they respond to the Lord’s call. Quite rightly this is demanding and searching because it is the creating work of the Holy Spirit at the service of the People of God.

The formation of wise, holy and competent priests has been needful in every generation, none more so than this. Consequently, I invite you to keep the staff and seminarians of Corpus Christi College in your prayers “…increase in them knowledge and love of God, confidence in the Gospel, compassion for the lost and needy, courage, endurance and unfailing live…”

In particular, I thank Archbishop Comensoli, the Trustees, the seminarians, the staff, and the friends of the seminary for their support and prayers.

In the Lord,

Very Rev. Denis Stanley EV
