Welcome to the website of Corpus Christi College, the Provincial Seminary for Victoria and Tasmania. We hope you find it an informative and useful introduction for life of our community, especially if you are considering a vocation to the priesthood.
I am very grateful to the seminarians who have taken up the responsibility of preparing this window into the life of the seminary. I know it has potential to reach many people.
Our website is a good place to start learning something about the seminary’s programme of formation, it’s history, present day life and the activities and stories of the students. The first question that people ask me about the seminary is always, “How many students are there?” Here is the place to find out. The next question is, “Where do they come from?” As you can see the seminarians reflect the multicultural life of our parishes.
Deeper questions are not far away, although in conversation there is not always the opportunity to ask them. Our website helps to answer some of those questions such as, “What is the formation programme?”, “What is community life like?” or “What do the seminarians study or what pastoral work do they do?”
Yet deeper questions are explored such as, “How and why anyone would offer themselves so completely for service as a priest for love of God and neighbour?” and “What does it mean to be joyfully committed as a disciple of the Lord and member of his church today?”
As you “surf” our website let your interest, concern or curiosity move you into a prayer for the staff and seminarians of our College. The formation of wise, holy and competent priests has been needful in every generation, none more so than this. Your loving intercession through Christ our priest and shepherd, would be very much appreciated.
In particular, I thank Archbishop Comensoli, the Trustees, the seminarians, the staff, and the friends of the seminary, for their support and prayer for our community’s life and witness.
In the Lord,
Fr Denis Stanley
