Guests of the Priests Support and Education Fund (PSEF) visited Corpus Christi College to celebrate the Feast of Pentecost on Sunday, May 15.
The fund, which is an initiative of the Knights of the Southern Cross, organises the annual Archbishop’s Dinner, which raises funds to support the further education of seminarians and priests in Victoria and the Military Ordinariate.
The PSEF in their visit to the seminary also announced the two winners of this year’s scholarships to the Holy Lands. The recipients of these scholarships were second year seminarians Jaycee Napoles and Andrew Kwiatkowski, who are both studying for the Melbourne Archdiocese.
The scholarships are funded by three bursaries, which have been combined to create the funds to enable travel to the Holy Lands. These are the Walter P. Martin, Barbara Ralph and Cardinal John Foley Memorial scholarships.
The scholarships enable Jaycee and Andrew to spend their summer break journeying in the footsteps of Jesus and learning more about the rich history of the Catholic Church in the Holy Lands.
Chairman of PSEF, Norm McCarthur, and Barbara Ralph, presented the scholarships to Jaycee and Andrew respectively.
Andrew and Jaycee have begun discussions for their pilgrimage to the Holy Lands, and are most grateful to have been given this opportunity.
They now look forward to planning their itinerary in the spirit of pilgrimage with Corpus Christi College Dean of Studies and Scripture Scholar, Fr Brian Boyle.
The announcements also coincided with a three-course lunch to celebrate the Feast of Pentecost with the PSEF community. Corpus Christi chef, Jeff Blew, and his apprentice, Troy Carey, cooked up a storm for the occasion.
The seminary renews its thanks and appreciation to the PSEF for their ongoing support.
This year’s annual Archbishop’s Dinner will be held at Moonee Valley Racecourse on Friday, August 26.
