Sale shines for Stanly's ordination as a Deacon

By Jackson Saunders

Stanly Devasia has been ordained to the diaconate in the Sale Diocese.

Bishop of Sale, Patrick O’Regan, ordained Deacon Stanly at St Mary’s Cathedral, Sale, on a bright sunny day on Saturday, September 22.

The occasion was supported by Stanly’s family and friends, both locally in Australia, and from his native homeland of India.

Rector of Corpus Christi College, Fr Denis Stanley, presented Stanly to Bishop O’Regan as a candidate for the sacred order of diaconate.

Corpus Christi College formation staff, Fr Ed Moloney and Fr Jake Mudge, along with about 20 seminarians were also in attendance for the ordination ceremony.

Other supporters included priests, deacons and parishioners from across the Sale Diocese and beyond.

Afterwards a luncheon was provided by numerous groups associated with St Mary’s Cathedral, Sale.

The next ordination in the Sale Diocese will be the priestly ordination of Deacon Hiep Nguyen on Saturday, December 15, at 11am at St Mary’s Cathedral, Sale.
