Corpus Christi gathered as a community to witness the Table Tennis Championships held at the seminary annually, 2 November.

It was the Commemoration of All Souls but it did not deter the seminarians from having an enjoyable moment. After the saying the Vespers for the Dead, the community came together for the usual Friday drinks and BBQ. Soon afterwards, the championships began.

Division 3 (Beginners) saw an India vs India game, with Jithin Anto (5th Year, Sale) playing against Vinco Muriyadan (5th Year, Hobart). Jithin defeated Vinco, 2-1.

Division 2 (Intermediate) was a showdown from another Indian sub-continent country, Sri Lanka. Chatura Silva (5th Year, Hobart) played against the Australian-Sri Lankan James Baptist (6th Year, Melbourne). James won over Chatura, 3-0.

Finally, the highlight of the night, Division 3 (Advanced) turned from South Asia to Southeast Asia with the Vietnamese seminarians Huy Nguyen (3rd Year, Melbourne) and Tien Tran (2nd Year, Melbourne). Huy effortlessly defended his title as the reigning Table Tennis champion against Tien winning three sets straight of five.

Fr Denis Stanley, Rector of the Seminary presented the three champions $50 Rebel Sports Gift Cards after the games. The Championship Night was coordinated by the Sports Committee – DJ Suguitan (5th Year, Sandhurst) and Vinh Do (3rd Year, Melbourne).
