Family Day

The annual Family Day for the seminarians of Corpus Christi College is one of the highlights of the year.

It is a day where families and friends will gather again to show their moral and loving support to us who are studying for the priesthood. The day started with a Holy Mass, presided by the Vice Rector- Fr Cameron Forbes, at the Seminary Church of the Sacred Heart. Followed by the lunch in the main dining hall which we welcomed our family and friends.

My family is in the Philippines so I know that on a day like this I would miss them even more. But this is part of the package when I said ‘yes!’ to God.

However, God has sent me good friends who are like my new family. God is indeed truly loving and full of surprises.

The presence of the visitors has brought so much joy, laughter and wonderful conversation! We shared these moments over sumptuous and mouth-watering foods from different cultures. Many of the friends and families who came travelled from afar via plane or train just to get to join us in this momentous occasion, especially for the first years and international students like myself. Nothing really compares to the happiness, joy and good memories we shared with them.

They left us with an impression of a genuine gesture of moral and spiritual support. Priestly formation is a long journey. However, with the guidance of our formators and friends, this journey with all its ups and downs, is sprinkled with moments of gladness which encourages us to press on.

So, we thank our families and friends for their loving support and hopefully we’ll see them again soon.
